Hey Jamie, here`s my advice. Make sure the pony or horse you choose is friendly and isn`t to skittish or feisty. Make sure he or she likes you as well as you like him or her. Always have an adult near you the first time you ride or care for your horse, until you feel comfertable riding your horse on your own. Don`t be nervous when you ride your horse, or your horse will sense it! Good Luck!!!!!!!!

 Anyway, I`ve been working with Dancer a lot this week. I can`t seem to get he to move into her upward transitions smoothly, and the show is Sunday! Any advice? TTYL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love riding and one day I asked my mom if I could go to the barn I ride at for a lesson. She agreed and called the barn.  I did get to go riding, but on a different horse.

I started out fine riding around in a circle at a walk. Then 2 minutes later we were galloping.The mare took of down the feild and, oh no, my foot came out of the sturrip. I fell of and landed on the ground on my behind. OWCH! I was scared to get back on but I did. Same thing happend again but this time it was a fast canter.  I managed to stay on. I  never wanted to ride that horse again but a few weeks went by and I got back on her. I had no problem and hope to ride her again soon.

This is a story about a wolf. She is named Shimmertail. Don't anyone ever steal this idea because I am Using for Young Authors at school.

I'm not going to tell the whole story, because it would be too long.So, Shimmertail is a wolf in a litter of five wolf pups. There'sSparkleglitz, Marty, Griffin, Sampson, and Playboy. Their mom and dad are Gaia and Kodey.

Anyway, Shimmertail is the runt, and she is too small to do the things the other pups can do. She has to stay home with her mom, since her dad teaches the others everything.

The leader of their pack says that Shimmertail has to be forbidden from their land because she is so small. Shimmertail is sad, but she pretends to be brave. She sets off "bravely" to find someplace else to live.

Along the way, she meets a dragon named Fireclaw, and a young boy named  Timothy. She introduces herself, and Fireclaw and Tim decide that Shimmertail can stay with them.

Fireclaw and Tim are looking for a fellow wolf's home. Shimmertail thinks that she can help them, so she aks them what the wolf's name was. They say that it was Ranger.

She knows that her granddad's name was Ranger, and that he lived where she had lived. SHimmertail takes them to where she lived, but she gets in trouble for going homw until she introduces Tim, and said that he used to "own" Ranger. HSse then gets to stay at her home along with Tim and Fireclaw.

I just got a horse in september his name is riley! it was america l we got him! when we went to look at him he seemed perfect. He is a quarter horse and they are my favorite breed!! Anyway I rode him and he was great but he was too exspensive:( so they had 4 people wanting to look at him the last person who wanted to look at him was in desprite need of a horse. The guy that owned him left her a message but she didnt get it in time so she bought a different horse!! So my paernts pulled some strings and BAM  we got him i was sooo happy!!! and i ride english he use to be a western horse!! and soon we are going tot each him to jump!! i am so excited!!

Well I think you should gain a horses trust before riding him/her in the canter,But thats a long way from were your at first you should ride western because you can hold on  to the horn which is safe for beginners I am a advanced rider so I do the extended trot and everything so its very far down the road.Oh Justine who made the HPPLC can I join or who invented it? I recall its Justine as my friend Has gone on this website along time ago. My stallion Boulder is a spooker at times as he does spook of animals but hes normally very bombproof.

Hey guys I am back! I am feeling better too. After all the chaos we moved to another barn called north western stables. I ride an angle horse named lulu. She loves to run and take off but I love her soooo much we are a perfect match.

Hey thanks sydney for helping me. Thanks to all the club members for helping.

I also want to say that I am also happy because my homeroom teacher rides and she told  me she rode at north western. When we say we knew her they gave us the true story. She was a show girl and rode soo much. she was sooo good she went to mclay the horse show. It is like one step away from olympics!! when she entered that show she was one of the finalists.   COOL HUH??

Well my old horse who I loved died she was only ten.

Jamie my friend and I were riding down trail I was riding my old one who died well there was a pitbull on are trail so Jamie runned away andI didnt see it he bit my horse's legs and she fell down and on my leg was a huge log we were crossing a open bridge and my horse fell on heavey stone and so did I and a log I fainted and My friend called my mom and a hour later I was in the emergency room and I talked to my mom and said whats going on where Pop Princess?!!!!

She replied at the Vets and i said ok the next day we got a call and she had to be euthanized! I cried for a whole day please say a prayer for her c.c.c thanks~Shannon~.

Hi guys! Let me tell you more about the horses at  the farm.

This week, I`m got assigned to Dancer, a bay arabian half welsh pony.She has a white star on her forehead. Today ,(everyday we have a lesson and today we got assigned a different horse than last week) during our lesson, I got to jump Dancer. She is a great jumper, and my friend wassooooooooooo jealous that I get to ride her this week.

My friend is riding Junior, a dapple gray colt. She is afraid of him because he`s really feisty, and he bucked someone off once!

My other friend is also jealous. She is riding Tiger, a white 10 yr old gelding. She won`t tell why she doesn`t like him but I think it`s because once he kicked her chesnut 6 yr old mare named Pebbles. My freind is still mad at him.Gotta go! Write me soon! TTYL!

Hi guys. I`m new to this website, so if anyone can tell me about it, that would be great!

Let me tell you about the horses I ride.

Flora is a 7yr old paint mare. She is part of the pony club group at the farm I ride. The pony club is a program where all the kids at the farm get assigned a horse to school for the week.

Demeter is a 5yr old black dutch warm blood. I was assigned to him this week for the pony club.He is a sweet horse, but at times, really tough.The farm rescued him from a shelter last october.

Juno is a chesnut gelding. I rode him for a gymhanka competion once. We won the sack race and the flag race! He is an excellent jumper too.Triton is my horse, so he`s not used for thepony club. He is a buckskin stallion with a black mane and tail. I sometimes ride him over at Sunset Farms Equestrian Center in Washington,which is the center that my mom and I visit every weekend with Triton and her flea-bitten gray mare, Dawn.

We usually ride in the sand riding areana or hit the trails, but sometimes I try the easy cross country jumps while my mom jumps Dawn over the water jump they have their. My mom competes in some of the shows that the center organizes, and other competions. She has another horse, Hercules, a red bay throughbred gelding. He hates riding in trailers so we never brought him to the center. Well I gotta go! See ya!

One time my mom and I were riding bear back and well i was on a pony named Scooter, She was my pony and I loved her. Anyhow we started to laugh about how these two birds were fighting over a silly branch and which of them would be the one to make a nest on it. I started to laugh to hard and fell of Scooter. Well i sorta fell of. You see i tried to yank myself back up but i just pulled myself under her. She kicked me in the head.

 Thank goodness i desided to wear my helmet on that ride. So from then on out i wear my helmet on all rides on my new horses until I feel that the horse and I have become one. And even then I where a helmet for different things such as gaming and jumping. So to all the kids and adults that read this, Be Smart, WHERE YOUR HELMET!!!

When I took riding lessons I fell off one time. When I fell off I felt as if I was flying through the air and I was. After that I didn't take lessons but I still LOVE horses so much and I might still take them again. I am so ecited but it might be a while ti'll I take them again.

Hey guys a lot has been going on. I am really sad too. 

Two days ago I fell off my horse (not holly) and hurt my arm really bad. Then the next day the girl I shared Holly with came up to me and her mom and said they could no longer share holly.

My mom said we could not keep her on our own so we put her up for sale. I was sooo sad I cried for 1 day!! Then two days later a man comes up and buys her and then... MOVES TO OKLAHOMA! I will never see her again! I am super sad I think i MIGHT EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!

I have moved to holland 3 years ago and i have started my interrest in horses there! I love them sooooo much!

Any way,i moved back to America and found myself  leaseing a beautiful bay mare named chippy! I loved her, but found that she had a lame leg. I felt so bad for her and cared for her. I deffenatly did not want any more surprises! But then there waz more!

Chippy waz going to have a foal!!!!! I waz so exited until the owner told me that i could notlease her because she waz in foal. I cried for many nights, and missed her. I had started learning weastern riding on her! How could i let her go?!

Now i ride at a different stable and ride a horse named Diamond and have many friends there! = >  Now i have found that i miss Chippy very much! Once my mom and I  plan it out we're going to see MY mare! I wil miss her when i leave but i will see her again! Talk about a happy ending! = >

I have a horse named Gypsy. Gypsy is a chesnut araibian half welsh pony. But she wasn`t always mine.

Two years ago when I was ten Gypsy lived across the street on a tiny farm run by a jolly man. The first time I saw the high spirited filly, I couldn`t resist going over to see her. For the next few days, I played and bonded with the filly. I nick-named her B.B for Bucking Bronco, because she always kicked her back legs up in the air with joy when I came. One day, I looked out my bedroom window at B.B to see an unfamiliar car pulling into the driveway next to her paddock. A woman jumped out oft he front seat. A girl about my age lept from the backseat and raced to the corral fence. The owner of the farm came out his front door and started talking to the woman. Then I realized it. B.B was for sale. I knew my parents would never let me have a horse, even though I knew how to take care of one and we had a big backyard.

Soon I learned that B.B had been sold and was leaving tomorrow. I was so upset, I cried my eyes out the whole day before B.B left. When I looked my window the next morning, I expected to see no cheerful filly in the paddock across the street, but instead I saw B.B in our backyard! My parents had bought her for me because the people who were going to buy her didn`t have a big enough backyard to keep her in. I was so happy, I cried with joy and rushed out to hug my new horse! I changed her name to Gypsy. I love her so much!

One day, when I was having a riding lesson at my aunt Sharon's house, there was another girl taking me around the yard. Well I guesss he wasn't thinking about me because when we were going up a hill, she starting cantering and my horse did too. I had to say WHOA to make my horse slow down. I wasn't supposed to be cantering yet, but it was fun while it lasted and I hope to be cantering for real before too long.

Hi everyone.I am 10 years old and I own 4 horses well two are mine and my sister who is 6 owns two ponies!I will telly ou all about them.

Lola is my mare and it a TB (of the track race horse) she is 16.3 hands high and is 5 years old.She is A grey TB mare she is supposed to foal in a few days she breeded before we got her.

Kokomo is a 16 year old pony and is 11.0 hands  high and is a brown pony(my sister has older ones to to her young age and she is a beginner rider/grooming horses and stuff like that.)

Andy is my 6 year old gelding. Breed: Gypsy Vanner. Color: Black and white. He is 15.1 hands tall.

Sunny is a 11 year old pony mare and is 13.0 hands high and is black. Her barn name is Sully. She is a shetland pony tall but adorable!!!

I am getting my first stallion in 3 weeks my dad brought him but his current owner is on vacation and my dad is a cowboy but my mom only knows how to drive the trailer truck lol or hahahaha rofl!

My mom and dad also own horses but they never let us ride them only pet them they spook easily and are still in professional training.

well i went to my first horse sale! 3-years ago and we got my first horse! he is a little 12.3h gelding pinto i rode him and he was fine and i was told he was a school horse! even better, or at least we thought!

well we payed 1000$ dollars for him and when we got him home he bucked me off about 6 times in-till we got my brother on him and he tried to buck him off too! so he has had the best life ever for basically 3 and a half years now he has a paddock attached to his stall & horses around him! what a life!

And the real part of the story is don't ever buy a horse from an auction!

Tonka bites bucks and rears ,he was supposed to go to a horse show with our other horses but the morning of he was kicking people that tried to help and biting me! so my dad said he could not go if he behaved like that! i have to sell him this year it is gonna be so hard as we are buying more horses....

We do know though why he behaved so poorly it was because he was not a school horse they used him for giving little kids pony rides a fairs! and he was hit A LOT because he cant see very well and is scared him so he would run into people so when the people that hit him are not at our farm he acted up!

my morel of my story is dont buy an auction horse! but the good news is he is going to live with other old horses in a pasture the rest of his life at the barn where we buy our hay so i can still see him!

I was riding my horse Babyface when we took of galloping (with the saddle on).It was fun until I fell off. My belt caught in the saddle horn.

I had heard  a snap and my cheap old belt broke. I was a little shaken but i got up.Everyone started laughing. Il ooked down and my pants were gone.I looked at Babyface and they were stuck on his hoof. The pants had fallen off, then Babyface had stepped on them.I will never go to that camp again it was sooooooo embarassing.

Oh! Marissa, you know how much i'd love to buy Maggie May! But money is only part of the problem. The other part is I don't have space to keep a horse. Money really isn't a problem in most cases. I mean i'd love to haul off and by a black 8 y/o quarter horse mare, but that would cost to much!! But that mustang Honey, I  had the money, just not the space. : (  Although maybe my lesson stable would be nice enough to be a temporary board. But i don't think its gonna work out! ; )

Except he is a American Saddlebred .Chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. It is soooooooooooooooooooooopretty!!! I also ride Maddie. She is a 12 year old quarter horse!! Sheis sooooooooo stuborn but a good jumper and that is the only way I put up with her but i have grown to like her. She has my personality!! Stuborn!! And bossy. She has a horrible canter and i love to canter soo that is another bummer........ and once you get her started she'll never stop!!!!!!!! Still workin on the controlling part!!!!!!

Hey guys I just got a new computer and now I can write more often!! Soooo... What is going on!!! Someone has got to tell me!!

At first I had a Quarter Horse Gelding named Pecos. He was a big suck-up, but a sweetheart. One day he went lame and I wouldn't be able to do much riding on him, so we donated him to LHRA (Lethbridge Handicap Riding Assosiation).

So me and my cousin shared her horse Ginger for a while, then I started riding my Grandpa's horse Stormy. She's REALLY tall. Then, one day, my Mom and Grandpa found an add for a horse for sale. They went out to see her. My Mom rode her and thought she was really good. They checked out her breeding history and liked what they saw, so they bought her.

I went with my Mom and Grandpa to pick her up. I loved her right away. She never really had an actual name though, so I named her Promise. she was really sweet, but the next week after we let her settle in, we went to ride her, and we found out she wasn't much of a kid's horse.

At first we thought she was probaly just testing me to see what she could get away with, but as the months went by, nothing changed. Then we found out she had laminitus. We gave her the treatment and she eventually got better, but then she got it again, and one morning my Mom went out to the farm and saw her, and she called the vet because Promise was dieing. We had to have her put down.

So then I rode my Grandpa's horse for about a year after. Then on one windy day out at the farm, a truck and trailer pulled up in front of the barn. "I want you to meet someone," my Mom said to me, as she grabbed my hand and pulled my outside. A lady jumped out of the truck along with a man I guessed was her husband.

My Mom then opened the door at the back of the trailer and there stood a gorgeous dunalino gelding."Would you like to ride him? He's my friend's horse," my Mom said tome. I nodded eagerly. I saddled him up and took him out. I walked him around and did a bit of trotting. It was like floating! Then I took him into the barn and groomed him.

As I was, my Mom came up to me and asked" Do you wish he was your horse?" "Ya, he's so pretty!" I replied."Good, because he is," she answered.

So that's how I got my horse Pal! And just so you know, a dunalino is a mix of a dun and a palimino. It's a very rare color.

hey everyone my house just burnt down and thanks to a very special horse i survived. My horse Mercury. I was trying to get him out of the barn since if the house fell it wouldn't hurt him. But Mercury refused to leave out the front side of my barn. So i led him out the other end and suddenly the front of the barn door fell off and i saw flames where eating away at the front of the barn. So thanks Mercury.

My pony Splashy and I were jumping a 2'3 vertical at my barn and he bucked right when we jumped. I flew on to his neck and it hurt really bad.

My riding teacher is on vacation!!!!! for 2 whole weeks!!! i could ride thursday but it is not as fun without her and its been like 2 degrees out!!!

I have a funny story.....

I was grooming a paint horse with a purple (new) curry comb and i did it on her face(she loves it if you do it gently) and i did not realize it was turning her face purple!!!!

I was kinda embarrassed for her although she did not mind!!! It was kinda bad though because she was(and still is) for sale!! Thankfully no one came to look at her!!!!!
